Infinity Ward reportedly increased the priority of player-versus-player matchmaking in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ mode, according to sources cited by CharlieIntel.

The adjustment has not been documented in normal Infinity Ward patch notes, and the studio has not publicly confirmed the specific matchmaking change.

What reportedly changed in DMZ

CharlieIntel’s report says DMZ matchmaking now places greater emphasis on bringing players into contact with other human squads. The report does not disclose the weighting used or explain how often players should expect PvP encounters compared with the mode’s earlier matchmaking.

Story-mission matchmaking was also reportedly adjusted. Players who have already completed a given story mission may now be placed into regular lobbies instead of mission-specific matchmaking.

DMZ combines AI opponents, human squads, extraction objectives, and persistent Operator progression. Our Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Operator guide explains how Traits, recovery, and Prestige work within that broader system.

Have your DMZ matches felt more focused on PvP since the reported matchmaking change?
