Activision has released the official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 PC trailer alongside the game’s launch system requirements and a detailed look at its PC features. The recommended specification targets 90 FPS in multiplayer at High graphics settings, while every tier requires a 115 GB SSD.
The official Call of Duty PC breakdown says Beenox is leading the PC version in partnership with Infinity Ward. Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23, 2026, through Xbox on PC, Battle.net and Steam.
Modern Warfare 4 PC features
The PC version includes more than 800 customization options covering graphics, gameplay, input devices and the interface. It supports 1080p, 1440p and 4K displays as well as ultrawide monitors, with automatic configuration based on the player’s hardware.
Image-scaling and anti-aliasing options include NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR Redstone, Intel XeSS 3 and Filmic SMAA T2X. Ray tracing is supported in Campaign, Multiplayer and DMZ.
PC players also get Enhanced FOV, which uses lens effects to widen the view near the edges of the screen without changing the center field of view. HDR10+ support can adjust contrast in real time based on display brightness, while new settings include a global sharpness slider, shading-quality controls and expanded options for reflections, shadow filtering, occlusion and screen-space lighting.
Other clarity changes include dynamic masking of muzzle effects at the point of aim and separate World Depth of Field and Weapon Depth of Field settings. Bullets now originate according to the weapon barrel’s position rather than landing randomly within an area of effect in both aim-down-sights and hip-fire stances.
A built-in benchmark runs a simulated multiplayer sequence and reports average FPS, CPU and GPU performance, ping and input latency. It also provides per-zone results and suggested setting changes.
Advanced Shader Delivery, previously called Shader Preloading, is designed to deliver precompiled shaders before play. Activision says the Xbox PC app must be installed to use this feature on a supported PC platform. Game boots will no longer require a restart after an update, although an update that arrives while the game is running can still trigger a restart between matches.

All three tiers require a broadband internet connection, DirectX 12 compatibility and a DirectX-compatible sound card. TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are required to play on PC. Intel Arc GPUs require Resizable BAR, and the official post says only Intel and AMD processors with the AVX instruction set are supported at launch.
The recommended launch drivers are AMD 26.7.1, NVIDIA 616.56 and Intel 32.0.101.8974. An Advanced Shader Delivery-compatible NVIDIA driver is scheduled for October 21. Activision notes that these specifications apply to the product at launch and may change later.
PC preload and release timing
PC preloading begins October 15 at 9 AM PT for digital pre-purchases. Campaign Early Access starts October 16 for eligible digital preorders, while the full game releases October 23 at midnight local time.
