Minecraft is now available as a native Nintendo Switch 2 release, bringing the game’s Vibrant Visuals upgrade to Nintendo’s current console.

Nintendo’s official announcement says the enhanced presentation includes directional lighting, volumetric fog, dynamic shadows, and other visual improvements. The Nintendo-exclusive Super Mario Mash-Up Pack is included and has also been updated to support Vibrant Visuals.

Players who already own the digital Nintendo Switch version can upgrade to the digital Standard Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 at no additional cost through Nintendo eShop, subject to Nintendo’s regional availability and terms. Existing Nintendo Switch players can also transfer their Minecraft worlds and continue playing them on Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo lists three digital editions in the United States. The Standard Edition costs $29.99, the Deluxe Collection is $39.99, and the Ultimate Collection is $49.99. Deluxe adds a selection of character items, content packs, and 700 Minecoins, while Ultimate includes the Deluxe content plus more add-ons and 1,000 total Minecoins.

The visual upgrade does have limitations. Nintendo notes that Vibrant Visuals is not available in some forms of play, including split-screen, and may not work with certain Marketplace worlds and content.

The native release gives Nintendo Switch 2 owners a version designed for the newer hardware rather than relying only on backward compatibility, while the free digital upgrade lets eligible existing owners move without buying the Standard Edition again.

Which Vibrant Visuals improvement are you most interested in seeing on Nintendo Switch 2?
