When does Final Fantasy VII Revelation release?
Square Enix confirms April 8, 2027 as the worldwide release date for PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It is a simultaneous multi-platform launch, not a timed PS5 exclusive.
The US PlayStation Store lists the Standard Edition for April 8 at 4:00 a.m. UTC, equivalent to midnight Eastern or 9:00 p.m. Pacific on April 7. Square Enix has not declared that timestamp a universal unlock for every storefront, so Xbox, Nintendo, Steam, Epic, and Windows buyers should follow their own store countdowns.
Digital Premium and Premium Plus include 24-hour early access. On the US PlayStation listing, that moves access to April 7 at 4:00 a.m. UTC. Physical copies do not include the digital early-access entitlement unless a particular package explicitly says otherwise.
What platforms is Final Fantasy VII Revelation on?
Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox on PC. No PS4, Xbox One, original Nintendo Switch, or Mac version has been announced.
Nintendo Switch 2 physical copies use a game-key card. Square Enix says that version requires an internet connection and at least 130 GB of free space for the game download. Physical PS5 and Xbox copies also require additional game-data downloads and an internet connection, although the final sizes have not been published.
Physical editions and US prices
| Physical edition | US price | Contents |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $69.99 | Base game |
| Deluxe | $99.99 | Base game, mini soundtrack, artbook, steelbook, and retailer Day One bonus where offered |
| Collector’s Edition | $349.99 | All Deluxe contents, Cloud/Zack/Sephiroth statue, Story Expansion Pass, accessories, consumables, armor, and two summon materia |
The physical Day One releases available through participating retailers include a Magic: The Gathering—Final Fantasy Final Showdown promo card while supplies last. Amazon’s Day One Edition instead advertises a folded poster. Retailer bonuses are not guaranteed with every physical copy.
The Square Enix Store-exclusive Collector’s Edition adds a statue featuring Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth. Its digital items include the Reclaimant Choker, a Survival Set, Nymphwing Bracelet, Risk Taker’s Choker, Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle summon materia, and Polydroid Alexander summon materia. The Story Expansion Pass covers two story-focused DLC releases planned between winter 2027 and spring 2028.
Digital editions and US prices
| Digital edition | US price | Contents |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $69.99 | Final Fantasy VII Revelation |
| Remake Series Trilogy | $84.99 | Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Final Fantasy VII Revelation |
| Premium | $99.99 | Base game, Story Expansion Pass, Reclaimant Choker, Survival Set, and 24-hour early access |
| Premium Plus | $109.99 | All Premium content plus digital mini soundtrack, digital artbook, Polydroid Alexander, Nymphwing Bracelet, and Risk Taker’s Choker |
The $84.99 Trilogy Edition is the most direct catch-up option for newcomers because it grants immediate access to Remake Intergrade and Rebirth before Revelation launches. Square Enix currently lists it for PS5, Xbox, and PC; digital Switch 2 preorders are scheduled to open later.
The Story Expansion Pass will also be sold separately at launch. Square Enix says the two DLC episodes will focus on Sephiroth and on Vincent and the Turks. Each episode will also be available individually after its release.
Preorder bonuses and retailer differences
Digital preorders include the Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle summon materia. The US PlayStation offer runs through April 7 at 11:59 p.m. local store time. Other stores may display a regional deadline.
Physical preorder bonuses depend on the retailer. Square Enix’s North American store lists a Sylph summon bonus for eligible orders, while the wider Day One program focuses on the Magic card or Amazon poster. Buyers should check the exact product page before ordering rather than assume all physical bonuses stack.
Do Remake and Rebirth saves carry over?
Story progress, character levels, equipment, and inventories do not transfer into Revelation. Instead, save data from earlier games on the same platform unlocks specific bonuses.
| Detected save data | Revelation bonuses |
|---|---|
| Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade | Chocobo & Moogle summon materia and FFVII Remake Weapon Skin Set |
| Final Fantasy VII Rebirth | Phoenix summon materia and FFVII Rebirth Weapon Skin Set |
The save must be recognized on the console or PC where Revelation is played. Square Enix has not announced cross-platform save conversion, so a save on one ecosystem should not be assumed to qualify on another.
What is new in Final Fantasy VII Revelation?
Revelation concludes the remake trilogy after Remake Intergrade and Rebirth. Cloud’s party takes to the sky in the Highwind as Meteor approaches and Sephiroth nears godhood. The airship opens unrestricted travel across the planet, while Piko the Chocobo gains new traversal and combat abilities.
Cid and Vincent become fully playable. The new FITS system assigns specialized roles such as Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner, expanding the series’ hybrid real-time and command combat. Players can change the actively controlled character and party lineup while exploring.
A grappling gun speeds up vertical movement, and some quests allow players to choose which party members participate, changing how certain scenes unfold. Queen’s Blood returns alongside broader world exploration.

PC requirements, preload, and download size
Square Enix has not published minimum or recommended PC specifications for Final Fantasy VII Revelation. The publisher has also not confirmed PC feature support, a final storage requirement, or the complete download size on any platform.
No preload dates have been announced. The Switch 2 physical version’s 130 GB free-space requirement is the only concrete installation figure currently available, and it should not be treated as the size of the PS5, Xbox, Steam, Epic, or Xbox on PC builds.
