Sony’s September 2026 State of Play was a back-to-back doubleheader: a global presentation followed immediately by State of Play Japan. Together, the broadcasts delivered 34 announcement sections covering new PS5 games, expansions, release dates, demos, hardware, PlayStation Plus additions, and a Resident Evil movie preview.

CONQ: Crown of No Quarter
CONQ: Crown of No Quarter made its debut with a large-scale warfare concept built around a shared open world. Players lead armies across land and sea, construct siege engines, assault fortified positions, and fight on behalf of competing factions.

Pearl Abyss announced Charting the Unknown, a major expansion for Crimson Desert. Captured on PS5 Pro, the reveal followed Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane into new parts of the action-adventure’s world while highlighting the expansion’s range of combat and exploration.

Genesis Maiden was announced as the first DLC for Sword Art Online: Echoes of Aincrad. Its story returns to the early floors of Aincrad, adds Mito to the fight, and introduces further gameplay additions.

Fate/Extra Record
Type-Moon’s Fate/Extra remake now has a worldwide release date. The new footage highlighted the expanded Moon Holy Grail War and its rebuilt Command Card combat, which uses a strategic deck-building structure.
Standard digital editions are planned for both consoles. A Digital Deluxe Edition will bundle cosmetic costumes, an arranged-music pack, a digital art book, and a digital soundtrack.

Final Fantasy Resonance
Final Fantasy Resonance revealed Sephiroth as an optional challenge whose defeat unlocks a special reward. Square Enix also released a PS5 demo containing the full opening chapter; save data transfers to the finished game, and preorders are now open.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation
Square Enix dated the final chapter of its Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy and presented an extended gameplay demonstration. The footage showed open-world travel aboard the Highwind, grappling-gun traversal, chocobos, character switching, and the new Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear (FITS) combat system.
Preorders are live. The official edition breakdown confirms a preorder summon, plus Premium and Premium Plus editions with early access and additional digital content.

Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted and Echoes of Sekigahara
Ghost of Yōtei is expanding through two additions included with the Complete Edition. Most Wanted is a combat-survival mode with enemy waves, boss fights, unlockable characters, weapons, and cosmetics. Jin Sakai is among its playable characters.
Echoes of Sekigahara is a story expansion examining Atsu’s past and the Battle of Sekigahara. It continues the story of the protagonist introduced when Ghost of Yōtei was first announced.

Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV
Polyphony Digital’s free Spec IV update will arrive in two parts. October brings the Sportsland SUGO circuit, while December adds the returning Autumn Ring and Family Mode. Across both releases, players will receive 12 cars, Online Drift Trials, Shuffle Races, additional Driving Experiences, expanded viewing and progression features, and more.

Grand Theft Auto VI limited-edition DualSense controllers
Sony unveiled black and white Grand Theft Auto VI limited-edition DualSense controllers with color-shifting finishes, molded palm-tree details, and official branding. Both cost $84.99 in the US, although availability differs by model and region. They arrive alongside GTA VI, following the game’s recent 27-minute gameplay presentation.
Preorders open September 10. The white version will be sold in limited quantities through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers, while the black version is limited to PlayStation Direct where available and select retailers elsewhere.

Gundam Rogue Orbit
Gundam Rogue Orbit’s release-date trailer focused on fast mobile-suit combat and customization. Newly shown weapon types and Tactical Skills can change how a unit fights, while interchangeable parts affect movement. Color customization and a MOD Skin based on the RX-78-2 Gundam were also confirmed.

Hunter’s Moon
Twin Swans revealed Hunter’s Moon, a first-person historical folk-horror game set over one night in 17th-century England. Players control an accused woman trying to escape witch hunters, observe villagers without being detected, and uncover the tensions inside a community shaped by war and fear.
The official announcement confirms a regional split: October 25 in North America and October 26 elsewhere.

Keeper
Double Fine’s wordless puzzle adventure Keeper was shadow-dropped on PS5. Its playable lighthouse awakens as strange tendrils spread across an island, then sets out with a seabird companion on a journey toward the island’s center.

LEGO PlayStation set
PlayStation and LEGO revealed a 1,911-piece replica of the original PlayStation console and controller. The completed console is nearly life-size and measures 10.5 inches (26 cm) wide, with hidden details referencing PlayStation history.

Maneater 2
Tripwire Interactive announced Maneater 2, moving the shark action to Neptune’s Kingdom, a technology-heavy luxury island park. Players control a bull shark that must eat, explore, evolve, and escape while facing bioengineered predators.

Marvel’s Wolverine

Metro 2039

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance
Capcom’s Ascendance expansion adds a new story, locale, monsters, and hunting mechanics to Monster Hunter Wilds. The presentation introduced the Skybound Eyrie, Boost Action, the Elder Dragon Gundoraja, and the new monster Arakeeta.
A playable Tokyo Game Show 2026 demo will feature an Arakeeta hunt.

Four games were announced for PlayStation Plus. Co-op looter shooter Mycopunk will join the Game Catalog later in 2026. Mega Man X: Command Mission enters the PlayStation Plus Premium Classics Catalog in September, with Dino Crisis 2 and the original Ratchet & Clank also due in the Classics Catalog later this year.
