PlayStation State of Play Returns September 3 With Final Fantasy VII Revelation

PlayStation will air two State of Play broadcasts back-to-back on September 3, beginning with a global showcase and continuing immediately with a Japan-focused presentation. Sony confirmed the schedule on the official PlayStation Blog.

The broadcasts begin at 6:00 a.m. PT, 9:00 a.m. ET, 3:00 p.m. CEST, and 10:00 p.m. JST on PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels.

What to expect from the September 3 State of Play

The first State of Play will feature updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners. Sony says the presentation will conclude with an extended look at the world of Final Fantasy VII Revelation from Square Enix.

State of Play Japan will follow without a break. Hosted again by Yuki Kaji, the second broadcast will focus on upcoming games from studios in Japan and across Asia, with new gameplay and announcements promised.

The main State of Play will be presented in English with optional Japanese subtitles. State of Play Japan will be presented in Japanese with English subtitles available.

Sony also warned creators that the broadcasts may contain licensed music outside the company’s control. Co-streams and archived videos could therefore face licensing restrictions, and anyone planning recap videos or reposted clips is advised to omit copyrighted music.

This is the latest installment of PlayStation’s recurring announcement format. Game News Plus also covered the September 2024 State of Play schedule, which similarly centered on updates for multiple upcoming games.
