Max Payne Returns as Remedy and Rockstar Games Announce Remakes of Max Payne 1 & 2

Remakes of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne have been confirmed by Remedy and Rockstar Games in an unexpected announcement.

The remake titles will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Remedy will be the name behind the development process, and Rockstar will be funding them for the project. These games will be made with Remedy’s Northlight engine, which was used in the development of Control and the upcoming title Alan Wake 2.

This is not the first time Remedy and Rockstar partnered for the Max Payne franchise, as they had worked on the original Max Payne games together, once again Remedy being in the development cycle where Rockstar handled the publishing part.

“We were thrilled when our long-time friends at Remedy approached us about remaking the original Max Payne games,” Rockstar founder Sam Houser said, “We are massive fans of the work the Remedy team has created over the years and we can’t wait to play these new versions.”

Another thing to point out is that this project will be funded with the budget of a AAA game, which makes everything even more interesting. With the Northlight engine involved, there seems to be nothing that gets in the way between these remake titles and the success itself. Well, we will see what happens next.
