Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s Source 2 Update on the Horizon According to Reports

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive(CS:GO in short) has been out for more than 10 years and has been using an updated version of Valve’s Source engine which was originally released back in June 2004. Due to other games in the same genre as CS:GO coming out such as VALORANT, people started making assumptions that Valve could be working on porting the game to their new engine, Source 2, which is being developed since 2014.

Discussions regarding a possible Source 2 port of CS:GO started around 2 years ago and still is active to this day. This is not the only thing about it, as recent leaks have shown that Valve could be preparing for an update/DLC release that will mark the beginning of the Source 2 era for CS:GO.

If you have noticed, Twitter user @gabefollower phrased these leaks as “Biggest CS:GO leak” which might seem odd to you if you are not familiar with the topic. Let’s get this clear, this is not the first time that we see a leak related to the Source 2 engine for CS:GO in the codes of Valve’s other competitive title Dota 2 as it’s been happening for a while now. What makes this one unique from others is that there are new entries being added to CS:GO’s steam page as DLCs, which means that the update might arrive soon.

These entries were seen thanks to SteamDB, a database website for Steam.

Following these events, early warnings for a possible major CS:GO update were given by some users. Considering CS:GO hasn’t been receiving major updates for a while, this might be more than just a dream.
