Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin Video Game in Development

Fans of the hit 2020 comic book series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin have reason to be excited, as the series is being adapted into a new video game. According to an interview with Doug Rosen, Senior Vice President for Games and Emerging Media at Paramount Global, the game will draw heavy inspiration from the God of War franchise and other similar action games. The goal is to create a AAA action title that stays true to the comic book source material.

While the developer for the game is being kept under wraps, Rosen did confirm that the game will focus on only one character, the titular Last Ronin, who carries the weapons of his fallen brothers. It is possible that flashback sequences could feature the other Turtles. The Last Ronin is set in a bleak, futuristic version of the TMNT universe, where all but one of the four Turtles has been killed by the Foot Clan. The lone survivor seeks revenge against the grandson of Shredder.

Little is known about the Last Ronin game at this time, but it is expected to allow players to switch weapons and fighting styles on the fly. However, the game is still a few years away from release.

In addition to the game, IDW Publishing is also expanding the Last Ronin comic book series. A second comic called The Last Ronin: The Lost Years will fill in gaps in the Ronin’s life and act as a sequel to the first series. It will also introduce a whole new generation of Turtles.

Lastly, Netflix recently released the first trailer for the animated movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which will feature a host of mutant villains from the TMNT universe. Fans can look forward to seeing the Turtles take on new foes in this action-packed film.
