PlayStation Makes Minority Investment in Discord

Sony has announced that they made a minority investment in Discord in order to start building up relations with them. The partnership has been announced with a blog post.

The announcement begins with “At PlayStation, we’re constantly looking for new ways to enable players around the world to connect with one another, form new friendships and communities, and share fun experiences and lasting memories.” then, “It’s in this spirit that we’re excited to announce a new partnership with Discord, the communication service popularized by gamers and used by more than 140 million people every month around the world.”

After this, it is reported that Discord stopped talks of a buyout with three buyers, this includes Microsoft. It was said that they were ready to offer $10 billion for Discord. But now it does not matter because Discord decided to put talks on hold.

We don’t know what exactly is going to happen for this partnership in the future, but we could say this is just the beginning of something big. We’ll see what happens in the future.
