Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag is Getting a Sequel, But It Isn’t What You Expect it to Be!

We all know the Assassin’s Creed series, some people consider it good while some call it really bad. But that’s not what we are going to talk about. Most of us remember Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. It made quite refreshing changes to the series and it was really fun to play in my opinion.

The Black Flag changed the way of the series by adding a pirate theme in the game. Of course, it had the old Assassin’s Creed gameplay we all know but it made some little differences. It was a great experience and I recommend you to go and play it right now if you haven’t played it. The sad part was we never heard about the protagonists of the game Edward Kenway for a long time.

But it looks like this is going to change, the Black Flag will get a sequel. Problem is, it won’t be what we are expecting it to be. Eurogamer interviewed with some Assassin’s Creed loremasters and they talked about projects that Ubisoft planned for the series.

So the catch is, yes Black Flag will probably get a sequel. Ubisoft publishing content manager Etienne Bouvier and transmedia director Aymar Azaïzia explained that the publisher is developing a “webtoon series set to feature Black Flag star Edward Kenway”.

Azaïzia explained “The webtoon we’re currently developing, animating in Korea – it was going to be a project like that where we re-used a [specific] character. And then we had a talk about Black Flag and potential novels or DLCs we never used or tapped into where we could see Edward going somewhere else – maybe not staying in the same seas, maybe going East… ‘That could be super interesting. We never told this story, what about pitching that?”

“So we decided to go with Assassin’s Creed IV- we haven’t written anything yet, we know exactly what we want to do but we’re still in the process of creating. But that’s exactly how it came to be – we explored different characters, different things we wanted to do in the franchise, and what would work in a specific format – animated pirates! amazing! – that opened specific doors.”
