Three new beetle species has been discovered in Australia, then, they were given the names of three legendary bird Pokémons.

Dr. Darren Pollock and Yun Hsiao are the people behind this whole thing, as Eastern New Mexico University reports, the two have examined the species Binburrum articuno, Binburrum moltres, and Binburrum zapdos, then decided to name them after legendary bird Pokémons Articuno Moltres and Zapdos.

The relevancy between names is based on their rarity, as both sides are found rare in their natural ‘habitats’. Also, the slight color difference between species allows us to know which one is named after any of the three legendary bird Pokémons.

Darren Pollock explained the situation, “Yun says that he was an aspiring Pokémon trainer when he was young, and so, because of the rarity of the specimens of the three new species, he suggested that we name them after the three Legendary bird Pokémon.”
