Cyberpunk 2077 Sets Record On Steam

After seven years of waiting and excitement, Cyberpunk 2077 is ready to be played on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Apparently, CD Projekt RED’s ambitious science-fiction RPG has garnered quite a few loyal fans over this seven-year period: Cyberpunk 2077 has been on Steam for less than 24 hours now and has already broken the digital platform’s record.

Fallout 4 held the previous record, with an impressive peak of 472,962 people simultaneously playing open-world RPGs. Cyberpunk 2077 surpassed Bethesda’s effort to reach 1,003,264 within a few hours.

While Cyberpunk 2077 will likely remain the undisputed owner of the single-player record, there is some work it needs to do to approach the overall record for the most players in any game. The multiplayer battle royale PUBG peaked in January 2018 with an incredible 3,257,248. It would be really impressive if a single-player RPG could put these numbers on a single platform.
