Ubisoft Montreal Office Takes Part in Ongoing Police Operation

According to reports from Canadian news sources, a police tactical response team was involved in an operation at Ubisoft Montreal headquarters. Although it was initially reported by news sources as a hostage situation, official statements by the authorities showed that this was not the case. A tweet from the Montreal police stated that he responded to the 911 call and advised people to stay away from the area, but no injuries have been reported so far.

Ubisoft has employees working from both home and office. Hyper Scape’s community developer Eric Pope said he had a meeting with employees who had to leave suddenly. Pope pointed out that he saw his team on the roof through the news and supported the news that some employees fled from the roof exit. Another employee on Twitter said the team here is safe, but colleagues in another building are still stuck. Subsequent news footage shows people apparently evacuated from the building and put on a bus by the police.

Montreal police asked civilians to stay away from the area near the corner of Saint-Laurent and St-Viateur.

Police reported to Radio-Canada that the situation was related to an armed robbery, but was not mentioned in public statements.
