PUBG Corp has filed a copyright violation lawsuit against Epic Games

Well, another day, another news about PUBG. Yet, this time it seems like we have some serious matters to touch upon.

According to Korea Times, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds developer PUBG Corp. has filed a copyright violation lawsuit against Fortnite developers, Epic Games. PUBG Corp asks from the court to determine whether the Fortnite was copied from PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. The Seoul Central District Court is to decide now. “We filed the suit to protect our copyright in January“, they say.

Fortnite’s free-to-play Battle Royale mode is indeed a successful one and loved by the community. It is not a strange thing that something so enjoyable like a new genre of gaming spread so fast around the world. We are all carve for something new and enjoyable. Everyday, we hear more and more Battle Royale games, but, according to Bluehole, Epic Games is promoting their game by using PUBG.

But our name was used to officially promote their game without our knowledge. There was no discussion. It was just a bit surprising and disappointing to see our business partner using our name officially to promote the game mode that is pretty similar to us and there was misunderstanding in the community that we’re officially involved in the project.

We will be back with more detailed news. Stay tuned for more!
