Gears of War: E-Day is now available in early access for Premium Edition players and Game Pass subscribers who have the Premium Edition Upgrade. The early-access period began worldwide on October 1, 2026, at 8 a.m. PT / 15:00 UTC, five days before the full October 6 launch.

Microsoft has also released the official launch gameplay trailer, set to Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls.” The video shows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago fighting through the opening Locust assault that defines Emergence Day.

According to the official Xbox Wire launch announcement, Gears of War: E-Day will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Steam. Cloud access is supported through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW.

Gears of War: E-Day editions and pricing

The official Xbox game page lists the Standard Edition at $69.99 and the Premium Edition at $99.99. The $30 Premium Edition Upgrade adds early access for players who already have the base game or qualifying Game Pass access.

The Premium Edition and upgrade also include the Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack, five seasonal customization packs beginning with the Emergence Pack, and 1,000 Iron. The Standard Edition becomes playable when the game launches worldwide on October 6 at 8 a.m. PT / 15:00 UTC.

The game is included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass at launch. As we reported in our September Xbox Game Pass lineup, E-Day is one of the month’s major day-one additions.

What Gears of War: E-Day includes

Set 14 years before the original Gears of War, E-Day follows younger versions of Marcus and Dom as the Locust Horde first emerges on Sera. The campaign can be played solo, in two-player split-screen on console, or online with up to four players.

The multiplayer package includes Horde Siege, a larger-scale take on the series’ cooperative wave mode, and 4v4 Versus playlists. The Coalition says the game was rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 with support for 4K resolution and up to 60 frames per second, depending on the mode, hardware and display.

Will you start Gears of War: E-Day during early access, or wait for the October 6 launch?
