A Video Showing How Ray Tracing Technology Is Used in Cyberpunk 2077

A new video has been released for Cyberpunk 2077, the new game of CD PROJEKT RED, one of the most anticipated games of this year and has been postponed many times. However, the new video was not presented by CD PROJEKT RED, but by NVIDIA.

In fact, as can be understood from the release of the video by NVIDIA, the PC video of the game with Ray Tracing technology was released. The developer studio will use Ray Tracing technology for lighting distribution, ambiance absorption, reflections, and shadows. In addition, the game will be using DLSS 2.0 technology. In other words, NVIDIA owners will be able to enjoy the game in high definition at high frame rates without experiencing huge video losses.

You can see how Ray Tracing technology is used in the game by watching the video recorded with GeForce Ampere from above. Well, let’s see how this technology will affect the game.

Lighting spread: This feature will capture the brightness of the sky and the lighting spread of various surfaces. When activated, billboards and other illuminated surfaces and objects will illuminate their surroundings with naturally colored light.

Ray traced reflections will be used on all surfaces. These reflections can extend up to several kilometers, resulting in a realistic reflection. Reflections will be visible on matte and transparent objects and surfaces.

Ambience absorption: Ambience absorption, a shading and rendering technique. This feature will be used for predictive regional shading effects in regional lights in the game.

Shadows: Ray tracing technology allows developers to present perfect shadows in their games. Thanks to this technology, directional shadows of the Sun and Moon lights could be added in the game. These regions will be affected by many factors such as the strength of the light and the distribution of the light.

The game was finally postponed to 19 November. If there is no re-postponement, the game will meet its players after a period of 2.5 months.
