Cyberpunk 2077 Hits 187,215 Steam Players, Its Highest Peak in Three Years

Cyberpunk 2077 reached 187,215 concurrent players on Steam over the weekend, its highest peak on Valve’s platform in three years.

The new figure was recorded by SteamDB and reported by GamesRadar+. It is the game’s strongest Steam result since October 2023, when the release of Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0 helped push the concurrent count to 274,526.

Update 2.5 and Edgerunners 2 bring players back

The renewed activity followed several developments around the RPG. CD Projekt Red released the free Edgerunners 2 Update, version 2.5, on October 22, adding a new quest tied to the anime, dual-wielding, expanded customization and cross-platform mod support. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 also premiered on Netflix earlier in the week, while a 70% Steam discount lowered the cost of entry.

Those events coincided with the player surge, although the available data does not isolate how much each factor contributed. Our Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 coverage details the features that arrived alongside the anime’s second season.

Cyberpunk 2 associate director Paweł Sasko acknowledged the weekend peak on social media and invited players to share feedback about Update 2.5. CD Projekt Red’s response suggests the studio is closely watching how the returning audience engages with the new content.

Did Update 2.5, Edgerunners 2 or the Steam discount convince you to return to Night City?
