Star Wars: Battlefront II Crafting and Crate Systems’ Basics Are Revealed

Starting from the day when E3 ended, we’ve been getting more and more news about Star Wars: Battlefront II. Recently, a video about crate and crafting system was released. The video shows off the basics of the progression and crate systems of the game. It is pretty simple if you ask me. If you have ever played another online multiplayer game or a trading card game, you should be familiar with the “getting cards from a chest/pack to improve the gameplay” system. Most of the time, it can be considered as a fair system for players who would like to improve themselves. But there’s another side of the medallion which is a “darker side”! (hehe…ehm) And we really hope that it won’t be the same system for Battlefront II as the systems in other games.

Quest for the Holy Crate of RNJesus!

So what is actually implemented in Star Wars: Battlefront II ? The system is simple. First of all, you get experience points after each battle and level up. Each time you level up, you get crates in which you will find Star Cards as well as in-game currency with which you can buy more crates or craft new cards. So buying crates with in-game stuff will probably be possible other than the ones you get from leveling up Also, as we can hear in the video, it is expected to be “much more rewarding” than the previous Battlefront game. What does that mean? That means, hopefully, that it will be easier to get these crates and the players will be rewarded more frequently.

We can’t say for sure yet, but what is explained on the video is basically a classic “get a container to get items to get new items/skill to get more effective in game to get more containers to get more and more and more” system…Personally, I am not a huge fan of this micro-transaction method. Yes, it is an easy way to earn money for companies and yes it’s easier and quicker to manage skills, items, upgrades etc for the players. The bad side is, unfortunately, it can be easily exploited by both sides.

Micro-transactions… Micro-transactions everywhere…

I’ll be honest. Paying huge amounts of money to get the best in-game improvements from a RNG based system doesn’t feel appealing to me. Also, in my opinion, RNG should be an “in-game” factor which effects combat systems or dialogue options etc. It doesn’t feel fair, to be honest, if its there for the money making systems like buying card packs and loot crates. Unfortunately, in the end, who am I to judge people or the companies, right? Just watch the video and see what the system looks like for yourselves:

We still don’t know of course if it will be the case for Battlefront II. As we heard in the video, this system is still on development. Which means that it can be a player friendly system that we don’t know anything about. And in that case, I would be so happy to delve into the game as it really looks awesome. Also we should always keep it in mind that they need to earn money. We know that there will be no season pass or a similar thing to be able to play the game. So it might be a fair way. I doubt it, but I want to wait for the release date which is November 17th, 2017 to decide.

Until the release date, enjoy the video and stay tuned for more news fellas!
