Croteam and Devolver Digital have announced Serious Sam: The Third Encounter, a new PC game that continues directly from Serious Sam: The Second Encounter.
The game’s official Steam page describes it as a true continuation rather than another prequel or side story. Sam’s fight against Mental and his forces remains at the center of the campaign as the series moves into new alien worlds.
The Third Encounter returns to the franchise’s arcade first-person shooter structure, with large enemy groups, fast run-and-gun combat, and a mix of familiar and new weapons. The listing says the environments will range from alien planets to hostile strongholds as encounters escalate toward Sam’s next confrontation with Mental.
Both solo and cooperative play are planned. Croteam says players will be able to tackle the campaign alone or join friends for co-op, though the Steam page does not yet provide a player count or further details about how multiplayer will work.
The project is currently in early development, and no release date has been announced. PC via Steam is the only confirmed platform at this stage; neither Croteam nor Devolver Digital has announced console versions.
Are you glad to see Serious Sam continue directly from The Second Encounter?
