Sony Interactive Entertainment has unveiled two new PS5 audio products: the PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset and the premium Pulse Edge Wireless Headset. Pulse is scheduled to launch in select markets during the 2026 holiday season, while Pulse Edge is due to begin rolling out in early 2027. Sony has not yet announced prices, exact release dates or preorder timing for either model.
The new headsets build on 2024’s Pulse Elite with larger, studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers designed to improve bass while retaining detailed sound separation and spatial accuracy. According to the official PlayStation Blog announcement, both models will be offered in White and Midnight Black.
PlayStation Pulse features and connectivity
PlayStation Pulse uses four magnets per planar driver and includes a PlayStation Link adapter with a USB Type-C connector. PlayStation Link provides lossless, low-latency audio and lets the headset switch between compatible devices, including PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC and Mac. A simultaneous Bluetooth connection allows players to hear audio from a supported phone or other Bluetooth device at the same time.
The standard Pulse model has an integrated microphone with AI-enhanced noise rejection and built-in volume controls. Its redesigned earcups rotate so the headset can lay flat for storage or travel.
What Pulse Edge adds
Pulse Edge doubles the magnet count to eight per planar driver, giving it twice the magnet volume of the standard Pulse headset. Sony says the change produces richer, deeper bass without sacrificing precision or clarity.
The premium model also adds active noise cancellation, built-in game and chat balance controls for PS5, an audio and microphone jack, and a detachable boom microphone with AI-enhanced noise rejection. A hidden microphone remains available when the boom is removed. Pulse Edge uses premium materials and comes with a protective carrying case.

Both headsets include built-in volume controls, rotating earcups and support for simultaneous PlayStation Link and Bluetooth audio. Sony says more launch information, including pricing and preorder dates, will be shared later.
