Hello Games has announced that No Man’s Sky will launch on iPhone and iPad on October 28. Pre-orders are open now, and the mobile version will be free to try when it arrives.
In its official announcement, Hello Games said this is the full game rather than a reduced mobile edition. The iOS release includes more than 40 major updates, including the recent COSMOS update and 2025’s Voyagers update, which added customizable large starships.
Hello Games says No Man’s Sky will run on iPhone 11 and third-generation iPad Air models and newer. One feature has a higher requirement: Planetary Settlements will only be available on iPhone 15 Pro and later models. Multiplayer will not be supported at launch.
The studio rebuilt the touch controls from the ground up to cover exploration, first- and third-person play, space flight, vehicles, mechs, crafting, and inventory management. The mobile release will also support controllers and TV casting, while iPad players can use a mouse and keyboard.
Hello Games says the download is under 4GB and that it has also worked on battery life and thermal management for longer play sessions.
The official App Store listing explains the purchase model: players can try the beginning for free, then unlock the full game with a one-time $19.99 in-app purchase. The store listing includes the major updates released across the game’s first 10 years.
Would you play No Man’s Sky on a phone or tablet, or is the lack of multiplayer a dealbreaker?
