Microsoft Forms New Blizzard Team for Smaller ‘AA’ Games

Microsoft and Activision have established a new team within Blizzard, composed of employees from King and other Activision divisions. This team will focus on developing “AA” games based on existing Blizzard IPs such as Overwatch, Warcraft, and StarCraft. This move is part of Microsoft’s strategy to maximize its extensive catalog of franchises acquired with the $72 billion purchase of Activision-Blizzard. The initiative aims to leverage King’s mobile expertise, potentially expanding to games across mobile, PC, and consoles.
