MAPPA is producing the opening animation for Attack on Titan 3, bringing the studio behind Attack on Titan: The Final Season into Omega Force and Koei Tecmo’s next action game.
Arifumi Imai is returning to direct the opening. Imai has a long history with the series’ action animation, and Koei Tecmo has also credited him for the new opening key visual revealed for the game’s anniversary campaign.
Koei Tecmo’s official announcement shows Mikasa, Armin and Levi facing Eren in the MAPPA-produced visual. The publisher says Attack on Titan 3 will cover the story from the Survey Corps’ beginnings through its conclusion, with players joining the Scout Regiment and reliving major events alongside the established cast.
Attack on Titan 3 is being developed by Omega Force, the studio behind the earlier entries. The sequel is scheduled to launch on December 10, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam.
The game continues a series that previously adapted the anime’s large-scale Titan battles around high-speed Omni-Directional Mobility Gear combat. In our earlier coverage of Attack on Titan 2, Omega Force highlighted cooperative and competitive multiplayer built around the same movement system.
MAPPA’s involvement is specifically tied to the new game’s opening animation; it does not mean the studio is developing the game itself. Omega Force remains the developer, while Koei Tecmo is publishing the title.
What do you hope MAPPA and Arifumi Imai bring to Attack on Titan 3’s opening?
