Grand Theft Auto VI’s total landmass is nearly as large as the playable maps of Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto V, and Red Dead Redemption 2 combined, according to Rockstar Games.
The comparison covers Vice City and the regions surrounding it. It comes from Rockstar’s comments for an Edge feature, not from an independently measured square-mile estimate, so it should not be treated as a precise calculation of the map’s area.
GTA 6 expands interiors as well as landmass
Rockstar head of development and co-studio lead Aaron Garbut said GTA 6 contains an “order of magnitude more interiors” than previous Grand Theft Auto games. He described the world as densely detailed even in back alleys and less prominent locations.
Garbut also said he continues to find locations he has not seen despite spending years working on the project, illustrating the scale and density Rockstar is targeting rather than providing a numerical map measurement.
GamesRadar’s report on the Edge feature follows a recent batch of 12 new GTA 6 screenshots showing Vice City, surrounding wilderness, and additional characters.
Are you more interested in GTA 6’s larger landmass or the promise of substantially more interiors?
