Electronic Arts is pausing development on The Sims initiative known as Project Lotus while it prioritizes Project Evergreen, the company announced on October 21.
In its official restructuring announcement, EA said it is focusing on the long-term potential of The Sims and skate. The publisher said Project Evergreen will receive priority so its team has more time to reach the project’s intended potential and vision.
EA said Project Lotus is being paused to support that decision. The company did not describe the move as a cancellation, and it did not disclose what either Project Lotus or Project Evergreen will ultimately become.
The change is part of a wider effort to concentrate EA’s teams and investment on what it considers its strongest long-term opportunities. Across the company, that strategy includes narrowing the number of simultaneous large projects and reallocating resources around selected franchises and businesses.
For The Sims, EA continues to frame the franchise as a central part of its Lifestyle strategy. Beyond prioritizing Project Evergreen and pausing Project Lotus, the announcement did not provide a release window, platform plan, or further details about either project.
What would you like EA to prioritize as it shapes the long-term future of The Sims?
