Electronic Arts has announced “Project Gridiron,” an internal name for a new social-first open-world experience being developed within the company’s American Football operation.
The project was disclosed in EA’s “Building EA’s Next Chapter” statement, which outlined changes to the company’s priorities and portfolio. EA said Project Gridiron is one of two new projects in development under EA SPORTS and that more information will be shared over the coming months.
EA did not announce platforms, a release date or window, monetization plans, specific gameplay systems, or a connection to an existing licensed franchise. “Project Gridiron” may also be a working codename, as the company described it as the name used internally for the experience.
The announcement places the project within EA’s American Football team, but the statement does not identify the development studio or provide further details about how its social-first and open-world elements will work.
What would you like to see from EA’s new open-world American football experience?
