KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS has released the first teaser and new story details for Death Stranding Isolations, an animated series scheduled to stream on Disney+ and other Disney services in 2027.
The series tells a new story in the Death Stranding universe rather than adapting the games directly. It is set in North America immediately after Sam reconnects the continent through the Chiral Network, with those renewed connections creating new and unforeseen consequences.
A new story after Sam reconnects America
The official announcement says the story follows a young woman who has grown comfortable with isolation after the Death Stranding forced people apart. Chance encounters draw her into an unfamiliar world alongside several other figures pursuing paths different from Sam and Bridges.
Death Stranding Isolations is being produced with traditional hand-drawn 2D animation. E&H production is handling the animation, with Takayuki Sano directing and Tow Ubukata responsible for series composition and the screenplay. Hideo Kojima serves as executive producer, while Ilya Kuvshinov is credited as original character designer.
The teaser and synopsis establish the series as a continuation of the world’s central ideas—connection, isolation, and the consequences of rebuilding—without requiring it to retell Sam’s journey.
Which part of the Death Stranding world would you most like the animated series to explore?
