A roughly 192 GB archive of internal Rockstar Games material reportedly began circulating widely on September 18, exposing what data miners say are canceled Grand Theft Auto V projects alongside a smaller set of early Grand Theft Auto VI assets. Rockstar has not publicly authenticated the files or commented on their latest circulation.
The archive appears to contain old material rather than evidence of a fresh intrusion. Insider Gaming reports that the files came from Rockstar’s 2022 breach, had been shared privately among a limited number of people and only recently reached a wider audience. That distinction matters: the package may be newly public, but much of its contents reflects development work from years ago.
What the reported Rockstar archive contains
GTA community creator and data miner TJGM said in an overview of the reported archive that it includes low-detail Grand Theft Auto VI map assets, files tied to a canceled Liberty City expansion for Grand Theft Auto V, material from abandoned GTA V single-player DLC and early dialogue and vehicles.
One of the most discussed discoveries is a file associated with a project known as LibertyV. After the data was loaded into CodeWalker, a community-made GTA V map tool, it reportedly produced zone outlines for a version of Liberty City larger than the city seen in Grand Theft Auto IV. The archive also reportedly includes a terrain test file connected to that work.
Those files suggest Rockstar once explored a substantial Liberty City project for GTA V, but they do not establish how close it came to release. More importantly, they do not confirm that the city has been moved into GTA 6. Claims that Liberty City could become future GTA 6 content remain speculation unless Rockstar announces such plans.
Other reported finds include mission names and environment assets from the canceled Agent Trevor expansion, beta vehicles, internal development tools and alternate dialogue. Data miners have also identified extremely early, low-quality models associated with the GTA 6 map. TJGM cautioned that those appear to be limited assets rather than a complete map, making them a poor guide to the final game.
What is actually confirmed about GTA 6
Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto VI page continues to present Vice City and the wider state of Leonida as the game’s setting. The studio has announced a November 19, 2026 release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC version confirmed.
