Fate/EXTRA Record Complete FAQ: Release Date, Platforms, Editions, PC Specs & More

Fate/EXTRA Record launches January 28, 2027, for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam. The single-player dungeon-exploration RPG will have Standard and Digital Deluxe editions, while Steam lists 31 GB of required storage and published minimum and recommended specifications. An exact global release hour, US prices, and preload timing have not yet been announced.

When is the Fate/EXTRA Record release date?

Fate/EXTRA Record releases January 28, 2027. The date appears on the current official game site, the PlayStation announcement, and Steam.

No exact worldwide unlock time has been announced. Steam gives the date without a final hour, and regional console storefronts can use different schedules. Players should not convert one store’s countdown into a universal launch-time claim.

No edition includes confirmed early access. Standard and Digital Deluxe editions are both tied to the same January 28 release date.

What platforms is Fate/EXTRA Record coming to?

The current official platform list is PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. The Nintendo versions are a newer confirmation than the initial PlayStation announcement, which discussed PS5, PS4, and PC.

No Xbox or Epic Games Store release has been announced. Buyers should also note that the PlayStation versions include both PS5 and PS4, while Nintendo lists separate Switch 2 and original Switch products.

The official English site does not yet explain upgrade rights, cross-buy, save transfer between generations, or performance differences. It would therefore be premature to promise a free PS4-to-PS5 upgrade or shared progression between Switch and Switch 2.

Fate/EXTRA Record editions

The Digital Deluxe Edition includes three themed outfit sets for the player character and Servants: Beach Style, Night Style, and Festival Style. It also adds arranged music from the original Fate/EXTRA for the phonograph in My Room, plus a separate digital soundtrack and art-book application.

Some included downloadable items may later be sold separately, and the official product notes warn buyers not to purchase the same content twice. The outfits and arranged music become usable after My Room is unlocked.

Physical Standard and Limited Edition packages have been detailed for Japan on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch. The Limited Edition includes a steel soundtrack case with three CDs and a Fate/EXTRA Record Material art book. However, the English purchase guide still shows regional buying information as coming soon, so a North American physical release, US price, and retailer list are not yet confirmed.

Does Fate/EXTRA Record have preorder bonuses?

No universal North American preorder bonus has been announced. Japanese TYPE-MOON store packages list retailer-specific physical bonuses, but those do not establish what US or European buyers will receive.

Preload timing is also unannounced. Steam currently offers wishlisting rather than a final unlock schedule, and the official console pages have not published download dates.

Fate/EXTRA Record PC requirements

These are the current official Steam specifications. Both tiers still label additional notes as “TBD,” so Aniplex may add target resolution, frame rate, or storage guidance closer to launch.

Steam lists single-player, achievements, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing. It does not list online co-op or competitive multiplayer.

What kind of game is Fate/EXTRA Record?

Fate/EXTRA Record is a complete modern rebuild of the 2010 PSP RPG Fate/EXTRA. It returns to SE.RA.PH, a digital world created by the Moon Cell Automaton, where 128 Masters and their summoned Servants compete in the Moon Holy Grail War.

The story follows an amnesiac Master who must form a contract with a Servant and survive a sequence of deadly rounds. Exploration is organized around gathering information about rival Servants, uncovering their identities and weaknesses, and preparing for a decisive battle at the end of each period.

Combat has been rebuilt around customizable Command Card decks. Attack commands deal damage, Guard commands strengthen defenses, and Skill commands provide character-specific effects. Players gain additional commands through exploration and combat, then tune a deck around the chosen Servant’s strengths.

Is Fate/EXTRA Record coming to Nintendo Switch?

Yes. The official site now lists both Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch.

Is there an Xbox version?

No Xbox version has been announced. The confirmed platforms are PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.

Is Fate/EXTRA Record multiplayer?

No. It is a one-player RPG, and Steam lists single-player features only.

How much will it cost in the US?

An official US price has not been published for either Standard or Digital Deluxe Edition.

Does Digital Deluxe include early access?

No early-access benefit is listed. Its confirmed extras are outfits, arranged music, and digital art and soundtrack material.
