Xbox Game Pass Surpasses The 29 Million Subscribers Milestone According to Sony

As we grow closer to the finalization of Microsoft’s Activision Blizard acquisition deal, Sony releases a compilation of their observations about it. This news comes as the UK government’s investigation of its own continues. Just a little heads up, the numbers that Sony gave for Game Pass are odd.

Some of the interesting parts in the announcement by Sony were spotted by the Twitter user @Everborn Saga, you can check the tweet for yourself below:

“Game Pass leads PlayStation Plus significantly. Microsoft already has a substantial lead in multi-game subscription services. Game Pass has 29 million subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Console and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and is expected to grow substantially in the future. The multi-game subscription tiers of PlayStation Plus considerably lag, with fewer than [unknown] the number of subscribers.”

Sony’s number of 29 million for the number of Game Pass subscribers does not match the numbers Microsoft gave earlier this year. This was also spotted by the games industry analyst @DomsPlaying.

Another notable analyst Piers Harding-Rolls states that the numbers do not go up to 29 million unless it’s a forecast.

We don’t know if the numbers Sony gave are 100% true or false. As it can end up in both scenarios, we will update you once we get a grip on the truth behind this disagreement.
