Sequel to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Has Been Announced

Activision Blizzard has announced that this year’s Call of Duty will be a sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare and bring a new Warzone experience with it. There will be major changes and quality of life fixes with the new releases. Also, a new engine is coming up for the game.

The games will be developed by Activision Blizzard themselves, it’s them who made 2019’s Modern Warfare, which was one of the most successful titles in the Call of Duty franchise. I suppose we don’t even need to mention Warzone, which was a major upgrade to the competitive gameplay.

There have been questions about the future of the Call of Duty franchise after Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard, there were many users questioning which platforms will receive future titles from the franchise. Microsoft actually responded to this question by promising that Activision Blizzard games will be released on PlayStation “beyond existing agreements,” which can be seen as a sign of relief for PlayStation users.

A new engine is probably one of the arguably must-have changes for the future of the Call of Duty franchise. It’s going to be interesting to see the impact this new engine is going to make in Call of Duty’s 2022 release. Let’s hope everything goes smoothly.
