We are seeing a lot of concepts that occur in the newest titles nowadays. Now, we have Artemis, a game that is claiming to have an open-world sized almost like the Earth. It’s being developed by the creator of PUBG, Brendan “Playerunknown” Greene.

Greene has explained the concept of the game to VentureBeat, saying that Artemis will take place in an “Earth-sized virtual world” also mentioning that the game won’t be that much reliant on side quests and waypoints, but rather more on free gameplay that will allow for players to decide things for themselves.

“Since the first day I played DayZ, getting to the edge of the map and think, ‘F*ck, man, why does it have to end here?’,”

Brendan “Playerunknown” Greene

“Providing this space where it’s big enough world – I love Rust, but if you play on a busy server there are bases every few meters. I want a space where you don’t discover a player’s base for miles. Or when you do it’s a big settlement rather than a box.”

This shows how hard Greene wants an open world that is just… big enough. He finishes his words with “We want to give people a new place to live, because this one has some issues,”
