CD Projekt Red Made Over £215m profit in 2020 Even With the CyberPunk’s Refund Crisis!

Even though the disasters of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red made over £215m profit in 2020. The refunds of the game did not manage to do damage to CD Projekt Red’s financial success.

With their financial report for the last year,  CD Projekt revealed 30,000 refunds were issued through its “Help Me Refund” program. And the company spent 8.46m PLN (£1.6m) on the program.

And these 30.000 refunds only include refunds in CD Projekt Red’s ”Help Me Refund” program. So there are lots of other refunds that aren’t included on this number.

Also, we know that CD Projekt has outlined 194.5m PLN (£37m) as “provisions for returns”. So by this, you can see how much these refunds cost for the company more clearly.

The biggest surprise is that 37m is nothing compared to the money CD Projekt Red made last year.  Cyberpunk 2077 sold 13.7m copies in 2020.

So I’m not going to go into the details of money but it is pretty clear that CD Projekt Red made lots of money because of the game and it surely was enough to cover the expenses for the refunds.

Of course, we know that the real damage came from the company’s share price. We all know how it plummeted since the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk.
