The New Star Wars Game by Zynga
Zynga announced that it has opened a brand new game development studio outside of its Austin, Texas office to work on the first mobile game set in the Star Wars universe. This new studio will be run by Jeff Hickman and Matthew Hemby, and its main focus will be on partnering with NaturalMotion, a Zynga subsidiary, to develop this new mobile game. Also, 25 new employees are being hired for positions such as Chief Engineer, Design Director and Leading Level Designer to help bring this vision to life.
EA may continue to enter into an exclusive license agreement with Disney to develop and publish new Star Wars games, but Disney still has certain rights to develop new titles in the mobile, tablet, social and online game categories. This does not mean that EA has not extended its hand to the mobile market, as Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is one of the most popular Star Wars games on iOS and Android, and it continues to be supported.
