Latest news from the Uncharted and Last of Us movies

Well, Naughty Dog’s is on the stage again with their two upcoming movie adaptations, Uncharted and Last of Us.

Naughty Dog’s creative lead Neil Druckmann talked to 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg at the D.I.C.E. Summit for a conversation about storytelling. They also talked about the Uncharted and Last of Us movies during the event.

We used to just be excited–oh my god, movies are looking at us! There could be an Uncharted movie on the screen, and then as more time passes on, we’re not excited by a direct adaptation of the story we told, because we feel we’ve already told that story very well cinematically, so I don’t know what else you could bring to it.

As far as we know, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland will be playing a young Nathan Drake in Uncharted movie. We will take a journey to Nathan’s past and fill the gaps of the story which was told during the movie. Druckmann says that it feels strange to see another people acting like Nathan, Joel or Ellie.

For me–and I know for Naughty Dog and for a lot of our fans–Nolan North is Nathan Drake. Ashley Johnson is Ellie. Troy Baker is Joel. It would be very disorienting to see someone else in that role.

When it comes to the Last of Us movie, Druckmann said that the script he worked on was a direct adaptation of the game and didn’t work out well. Now he says that when he looks back, he doesn’t even want that movie to be made.

Well, this may be a little bit depressing, but cross your fingers and hope for the best.

Stay tuned!
