About 4 days ago, the CEO of PUBG Corp. CH Kim had answered many questions of InvenGlobal in an interview where many information can be found about the title. As one of the most successful games of 2017, PUBG has attracted – and it still attracts – many gamers around the world. The story of PUBG is an interesting one as the game was a huge hit even before it was finished. Currently, it breaks many records on Steam and Xbox One. As for today, there are 3 million players who is playing PUBG on their PC. And if you add the numbers of Xbox One users, the number gets bigger and bigger.
All these numbers and informations make an interview with the CEO of PUBG corp a must. So, in that regard, we would like to present to you the important parts about it. The full interview can be found on official InvenGlobal website if you are interested in more information. For those who don’t want to read all the stuff before having an idea, I can say that the main subjects are the success of the game, the future of the title, questions about PC, Xbox One and possible PS4 versions and a couple of important business questions/answers about PUBG Corp.
The biggest bomb of this interview is probably the PS4 question. as you know, the game has an ongoing timed-exclusivity partnership with Microsoft. That means the game will stay exclusive to Xbox One for a while. Many websites have interpreted this as an information confirming that the game will come to PS4. However, as CH Kim said, “Early Access on Steam and Game Preview on Xbox One are like pre-release, so they don’t have a restriction on quality.” Confirming that they want to have the pre-access test to be available for every single platform. After that statement, he continues: “However, PS is very strict about this. There were cases where a game took 6 months more to launch even when it was already completed. We are still in the stage of learning the console development environment and console gamers’ taste. We need to think about other platforms after evaluating and completing the Xbox One version first.”
This can be both good and bad news for PlayStation 4 owners. Yes, the company wants to make it happen. But no, it is not going to happen maybe not even after the partnership with Microsoft ends. If PS4 is very strict about early-access quality, let it be so. I would rather play a finished game than spending my money on something is not even close to be fully completed.
The only thing that we must keep in mind that the game will not come for PS4 soon. But the important part is that the company wants to make it happen. So, in the end, it will probably happen and PS4 owners will also be able to join this circus of *ehm* responsible adults…
