Half-Life 2 free standalone fan expansion HL2 – ICE is now out

Modder ‘Timian’ has been working for four years on this project, HL2 – ICE which is a free standalone fan expansion for Half-Life 2. Finally, it is now out.

With ICE, we will be able to continue the story of Half-Life 2 in the Antarctic with frozen lands and underground bases. This standalone is inspired by conspiracy theories like the “Dulce Underground Bases” and the “Nightmare Hall” and of course, Half-Life series.

With this fan expansion, there comes new weapons and new enemies with a campaign which will last five hours. Of course, gameplay hour will depend on your playing style. Since it is a standalone expansion, you don’t need the main game to play it.

If you want to continue your Half-Life 2 journey with ICE, you can go ahead and download it from here. And, this is how you install it:

• Unpack the icemod folder from the icemod.rar into your ‘steam/steamapps/sourcemods‘ folder
• Restart Steam for ‘ICE’ to show up in your games list.
