Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds First Big Esports Tournament Is Next Month

The time has come.

Well, we were already waiting for it since Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds is a perfect fit for an esports tournament. Eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.

PUBG is still in early-access stage, yet it won’t hold any savages back. Developer Bluehole and the ESL have announced the PUBG Invitational which will take place at Gamescom conference in August.

PUBG features up to 100 players matches, yet we usually witness 1v1, 2v2 matches when it comes to esports. There are exceptions and PUBG will be one of them, for sure. There will be 80 players who play in a three-game set to determine the winner. Players will show their talents in solo, duo, first-person duo and squad mods.

Like always, the prize is dazzling. The prize pool will hold $350,000 and the developers will sell cosmetic items to support the pool and the charity. For just $2.50, you will be able to purchase an in-game crate which includes the items below:

PUBG tournament will take place from August 23-26 in Cologne, Germany and you can watch the broadcast starting at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET / 3 PM BST on Bluehole’s social media channels.

Stay tuned.
