An Interactive Extravaganza: EA Play 2017, June 10-12

The E3 event is getting closer (June 13-15, 2017) and we have some news! We wanted to have a look at what will happen before the grand openning of the show. Like usual, before the exhibitions start, companies will give their press conferences. EA, as it seems, will be giving the first E3 conference. They will introduce their new games and plans. And after that, the big EA event will start: EA Play 2017. First of all, this means they will seperate themselves from E3 exhibition event. It is obvious that they are planning something big. And maybe, they want to be the star of their own show. Who knows? But what is this EA Play thing?

“I’m going to build my own theme park! With DJs and rappers!”

The main idea is to connect the audience in the show hall with others who can’t attend to the event. That’s why EA decided to make it interactive and digitally accessible. Mainly, they will be introducing their new ideas, new games and let the audience to experience it from first hand. This “digital extravaganza” will be held in the Hollywood Palladium. Whereas E3 will take place in Los Angeles Convention Center. That alone shows how big and important this stepping-away will be for both EA and E3.

The EA Play weekend will start with an “all-new broadcast experience” designed for people who can’t or won’t be attending the event. That includes fans around the world which is interesting as it will be an easy way to reach out to the EA fans around the globe. During that conference, they will announce new ideas and the games-to-come. And after that, seperated from E3, the festival will continue with live DJ and music performances, community events and competitions.

What about actual gaming?

The event includes a huge FanFest with more than 140 gaming stations on which you can test/play the newest EA games/demos like :

  • Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II
  • FIFA 18
  • Madden NFL 18
  • NBA LIVE 18
  • The latest Need for Speed experience
  • The Sims™ Mobile and The Sims™ 4
  • The latest Battlefield™ 1 expansion
  • New content from Star Wars™: Galaxy of Heroes and Titanfall™ 2
  • Madden NFL Mobile
  • NBA LIVE Mobile
  • EA SPORTS™ FIFA on the Nintendo Switch

This list includes many famous franchises like EA FIFA series and The Sims. But personnally, I think what stand out in this list, above else, are the Battlefield 1 expansionStar Wars: Battlefront II,  and of course, no pun intended, “The Return of the Need for Speed” (wink).

Even though seeing the mobile games are getting bigger and bigger every day hurts my 60 years old grumpy gamer soul, it is obviously an important field for EA. What will they look like? We can’t know before their release date or EA Play event.

So, if you are interested in joining a huge gaming festival other than E3, this is where you can get your free but limited tickets. And for more information about EA Play check out this website.
