A dark future, or a parallel reality maybe? A future that death strands, for sure.
The video starts. We see Guillermo Del Toro as a character, carrying a baby in a fetus-device (incubator?); while some possessed (or infected?) soldiers and vehicles pass by. While waiting for Norman Reedus to make another appereance, the video suprises us by showing Mads Mikkelsen as the antagonist who has some weird and disturbing powers along with the tentacle-like devices -and the expectations, questions and curiosity hit the roof. The discussions about the symbolism used in video already started to run amok in certain gamer forums. There are some great ideas about what the video tries to tell, especially what Hideo Kojima thinks about his newest creation.
On Reddit, a user named crypticfreak states:
In total, the crabs, umbilical cords, waste, water (sounds thick), the planes byproduct as it flies through the air, the gunk on the tank, the blood oozing down the wall, the black ooze (or blood) on the soldiers and Casino Royal dude.
My bet is either on anti-oil, anti-war, or maybe it’s even more broad and just focus on man vs nature. After all, it seems like the constant in the trailers is that these ‘events’ are occurring because of man. Like they’re leaving their mark on the world, shown off as this weird oily substance.

Continuing with the symbolism, the broken baby drifting away represents Silent Hills, Kojima and Del Toros old project. The alive baby Del Toro is holding in the trailer represents their new project, Death Stranding. That’s my take on it at least.
