THE FINALS is adding Dynamic Commentary that lets in-game announcer Scotty say a player’s actual display name after important moments in a match.

The feature launches in beta with Season 12 on October 20, according to a demonstration reported by Insider Gaming. Instead of relying entirely on generic lines, the system can recognize a player involved in a notable action and incorporate that name into the broadcast-style commentary.

Embark Studios is treating the feature as an optional beta rather than a mandatory change. Players who prefer not to have their display name spoken can enable Anonymous Mode to opt out.

Dynamic Commentary fits THE FINALS’ presentation as a televised virtual game show, where Scotty and June react to the competition. Personalizing those reactions could make standout plays feel more specific to each match, though the beta label suggests Embark will be monitoring how reliably names are handled.

Season 12 begins a new chapter for the free-to-play shooter on October 20. Embark has published the season timing on the official THE FINALS website, while the name-reading feature was previewed separately ahead of rollout.

Would hearing your player name in THE FINALS make a big play feel more memorable, or would you keep Anonymous Mode enabled?
