Sony is promoting a PlayStation 5 trade-in offer that can pay eligible US owners up to $400 in cash through Back Market. The promotion is appearing in the PlayStation App, but the trade-in itself is operated by Back Market rather than Sony.
According to Push Square, the maximum quoted value applies to a standard PS5 in the service’s top condition grade when it is submitted with two controllers. The final offer can be lower depending on the console model, its condition and the accessories included.
Back Market pays accepted trade-ins by bank transfer instead of PlayStation Store credit. That makes the offer closer to a conventional resale service than a platform upgrade program, and owners still need to review the quoted price and the service’s inspection terms before sending a console.
The campaign is focused on the United States, so availability and values may differ elsewhere. Sony has not tied the promotion to a new console announcement or another hardware launch.
Would you consider using the Back Market offer, or would you rather sell a PS5 privately?
