Liquid Swords, the Swedish studio behind Samson: A Tyndalston Story, has entered bankruptcy proceedings, with nearly 30 employees affected and efforts underway to find a buyer.
Swedish business publication Breakit first reported the case. The outlet says staff had gone without salaries and are now expected to receive compensation through Sweden’s state wage-guarantee system while the bankruptcy process moves forward.
A search for a buyer is also underway. That leaves open the possibility that Liquid Swords, its assets, or its work could be acquired, but a sale has not been announced. Bankruptcy proceedings do not by themselves establish what will happen to the studio or its game next, so any outcome beyond the current buyer search remains uncertain.
Liquid Swords was founded by Christofer Sundberg, the Avalanche Studios co-founder best known for his role in creating the Just Cause series. The Stockholm-area studio released its first major game, Samson: A Tyndalston Story, in April 2026.
The immediate impact is on the studio’s employees. The reported unpaid wages and reliance on state support make the bankruptcy more than a change in ownership or financing, while the search for a buyer will determine whether any part of the company can continue.
What outcome would you most like to see for Liquid Swords and the team behind Samson?
