Sony released PS5 system software version 26.07-14.22.00 on November 2, 2026, with a short patch note focused exclusively on security.
The company’s official PS5 update page says the firmware applies “some security fixes to the system software.” Sony has not identified the vulnerabilities addressed or listed any new user-facing features.
Version 14.22 follows firmware 26.07-14.20.00 by roughly 11 days. That previous update included interface and usability changes, while the new release is presented as a security-only patch.
Recent PS5 firmware versions have prompted discussion in jailbreak and homebrew communities, and GTA VI’s approaching launch has also fueled speculation online. Sony has not connected version 14.22 to a specific exploit, jailbreak project, or game, so those theories should not be treated as the company’s explanation for the update.
Do you install PS5 security updates immediately, or wait to see what the community finds?
