Nintendo says it underestimated demand for its The Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 products, and the company plans to send more stock to retailers after the initial allocation sold quickly.
Bill van Zyll, Nintendo of America’s vice president and general manager for Latin America, discussed the launch in an interview with Brazilian channel Coelho no Japão. He said demand was stronger than Nintendo anticipated globally, with an especially strong response in the United States.
Van Zyll said restocks are planned for the anniversary hardware, software and special controller. Nintendo did not provide dates, quantities or a region-by-region schedule, so buyers will still need to watch local retailers for availability.
The limited supply arrived as Nintendo prepared a wider celebration of the series. The 40th anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 products will launch on October 29, while The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s Nintendo Switch 2 release follows on November 5.
The restock promise should reassure fans who missed the first wave, but it does not guarantee that every item will become easy to find. Demand may continue to outpace shipments once new inventory reaches stores.
Which Zelda 40th anniversary item are you hoping Nintendo restocks first?
