Nagoshi Studio has been officially dissolved, leaving the status of its announced debut game, Gang of Dragon, unresolved. A shareholders’ resolution dissolved the company on October 31, 2026, and the notice appeared in Japan’s Official Gazette on November 2.
The Tokyo studio was founded in 2021 by Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creator associated with Sega’s Yakuza and Like a Dragon series. Nagoshi Studio announced Gang of Dragon in December 2025 as an action-adventure game starring South Korean actor Ma Dong-seok, also known as Don Lee.
Earlier reporting said NetEase planned to end funding for the studio. VGC reports that the project was believed to need another Β₯7 billion, approximately $44.4 million, to reach completion.
No official announcement has confirmed Gang of Dragon’s cancellation or explained what will happen to the project. Its Steam page remained available at the time of current reporting, so the studio’s dissolution should not be treated as confirmation that the game itself has been canceled.
Do you hope Gang of Dragon can continue under a different studio or publisher?
