Mortal Shell II has received its first major post-launch patch on PC, overhauling its upgrade economy so players can develop every Shell and Tarstone in a single playthrough. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the Week 1 update are due to follow.
Cold Symmetry and Playstack’s official patch notes say Glimpses and Tarcores are no longer finite. Tarstones now return more Tarcores when broken, while players who upgraded Tarstones before the patch receive a compensatory cache. Relevant items will also restock at merchants as players progress.
The update introduces Mether’s Severance, a respec item that resets a Shell and refunds all Glimpses spent on it. New Fragile Tarstones can be found more than once per playthrough, and the patch revises dungeon rewards and adds further sources of Glimpses and Tarcores. GameSpot highlighted the changes as a response to the game’s restrictive launch economy.
The patch extends beyond progression. It adds daytime Beacons in Fainweald and Mammon, adjusts weapons and enemy behavior, polishes numerous boss encounters and includes a substantial set of crash and performance fixes. Cold Symmetry also added support for Switch Pro and Switch Pro 2 controllers on PC and corrected several graphics, frame-generation and rumble issues.
