“The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” is an upcoming animated film set 183 years before the events of the original trilogy. The movie explores the story of Helm Hammerhand, a legendary King of Rohan, and his daughter, Hèra. Unlike other Lord of the Rings films, this story focuses on a war between men, specifically between the people of Rohan and the Dunlendings. While familiar characters like Théoden and Gandalf may not appear, Éowyn (Miranda Otto) will narrate the tale, tying it to the original saga. Could this prequel deepen our understanding of Rohan’s history and its significance in Middle-earth?
