Haunted Chocolatier Is Progressing, but ConcernedApe Won’t Rush It

Haunted Chocolatier remains in active development, and creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone says he has been especially productive on the project lately. He is also sticking to his plan to finish the game at his own pace rather than release it before it meets his standards.

In an August 30 update on the game’s official website, Barone thanked players for waiting and acknowledged that development has taken a long time. He attributed the pace to his other commitments and his personal working style, adding that he will not compromise the game’s quality by rushing it.

The update includes a small but encouraging detail about the current build. Barone said he already enjoys playing Haunted Chocolatier in its unfinished state, particularly after making several recent additions. He did not explain what those additions are, reveal new screenshots or announce a release date.

Polygon highlighted the developer’s check-in after more than two months without a new post on the project’s blog. The message does not provide a production milestone or launch window, but it directly confirms that work is continuing and that Barone remains focused on the game.

Haunted Chocolatier is Barone’s next game after Stardew Valley. Its development updates have remained deliberately limited while systems and other content continue to change. For now, the clearest takeaway is that the project is moving forward, but its creator is not attaching a deadline to that progress.
